Biography: Dr. Marvin Bonham

Dr. Marvin Bonham spent his working years devoted to the healthcare field and helping others. He still had time to travel around the world and the country. Now that he has retired, he hopes to spend time traveling and devoting energy to some of his other great passions, including helping the environment, educating others, and helping the poor in terms of healthcare and social services.

Some of the organizations that Dr. Bonham works closely with now include:

Trees for Houston
Friends of Herman Park
Buffalo Bayou Preservation Group
Houston Museum of Natural Science

The environment is extremely important to Dr. Bonham, particularly since he has spent so much of his free time enjoying the outdoors, both through lifelong world travel and different activities he enjoys outdoors. He is an avid rafter, spending time on the Guadalupe and Colorado Rivers. He has also rafted from Lake Powell to Lake Mead via the Grand Canyon and down the American River. Dr. Bonham has also spent time in Peru and Costa Rica, enjoying rafting trips in both countries.

Another of Dr. Bonham's great passions is his relationship with his Giant Schnauzer, Jake. Jake is a young 7-year-old with a fantastic personality. Dr. Bonham found Jake at the breeder's farm in Sonoma, California, and fell in love right away. Back then, Jake was only 4 months old, but he adapted well to life with Dr. Bonham. Today, Jake is a giant clown, and he's there for Dr. Bonham through everything life tosses their way.
